Several heavyweight leaders, including Orissa candidates and bureaucrats, joined the people in exercising their voting right for the ongoing Urban Polls 2022 on Thursday. Orissa Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik cast his vote in Bhubaneswar. Accompanied by security personnel, the Chief Minister walked from his residence ‘Nabin Nibas’ to a polling station at Aerodrome Upper Primary School, Ward No. 1. 53 of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC).
As a normal person, he showed his voter ID, stood in line and voted when it was his turn. Later he came out of the booth and showed the mark of indelible ink on his index finger. The Chief Minister called upon the people of urban areas to cast their votes in large numbers and strengthen democracy.
BJD Organizing Secretary Pranab Prakash Das cast his vote at Bahbalpur Nodal UP School in Jajapur Municipality. He called on all to participate in democracy. “In a democracy, voters are everything and they have all the power. I urge everyone to vote for the right candidates and come forward to strengthen democracy, “he said.
Congress leader Narsingh mixed caste vote in Laxmi Narayan Para school of Bolangi municipality. BJP MP Sangeeta Singh also cast her vote at Ramai High School in Patna’s 9th ward of Patnagarh NAC in Bolangir district. Mridula Tagore Pradhan, wife of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, has cast her vote in Talchar municipality. He voted for Deulveda School. 18. Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra along with his wife cast their votes at Government Model High School, Unit-1 Bhubaneswar in Ward 40 and CM’s Secretary VK Pandian and his wife Mission Shakti Secretary Sujata and Karthikeyan at a model booth of Unit-6 in Bhubaneswar. OTDC Chairperson Ms. Mishra cast her vote at Kasturba Shiksha Ashram Vidyamandir in Nayapalli, Bhubaneswar. BJP state president Sameer Mohanty cast his vote at booth no. 620 of Ward No. 60 of Bhubaneswar.
Mayoral candidates of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC), Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BEMC) have also exercised their franchise in their respective booths.
