Union Minister Smriti Irani and National President of the Women’s Congress Netta D’Souza exchanged words on a flight to Guwahati on Sunday over the rise in fuel prices and later said she questioned the minister as a responsible citizen.
The president of the Women’s Congress told CNN-News18 that she went to Smriti Irani inside the Indigo flight and asked her a few questions outside, “I will ask her questions on any other platform.” “I questioned him as a responsible citizen and I will not see any mistake in that.”
D’Souza said Iranians protested in 2014 when the price of an LPG cylinder rose from Rs 415 to Rs 435. “It’s been seven years now that the price has gone up by Rs 1,000. I asked him about it,” he said.
In a video posted on Twitter by D’Souza, he is heard asking Irani, “Happy Bihu without stove, without gas, at an increased rate.” The minister was heard saying, “Please don’t lie”, social welfare projects and the Covid-19 vaccine have been given to the people.
