Punjab police have filed a case against Delhi BJP spokesperson Tajinder Pal Singh Bagga for attacking Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for his comments in the film ‘The Kashmir Files’, for making provocative statements, spreading hostility and making criminal threats after an AAP allegation. The leader mentioned in the FIR filed on April 1, March 30, with sarcastic remarks against Kejriwal, when he was part of a BJP youth wing protest outside the chief minister’s residence in Delhi. The BJP youth front leader on Saturday claimed that a team of Punjab police had reached his house in the national capital to arrest him, but he was not aware of any FIR against him. Bagga accused Kejriwal of mocking the plight of displaced Kashmiri scholars in the Delhi Assembly and demanded an apology. The AAP targeted Kejriwal for allegedly making derogatory remarks against him.
In his complaint, AAP leader Sunny Ahluwalia, a resident of Mohali, accused Bagga of making provocative, false and inflammatory statements to incite resentment, discrimination and create feelings of enmity, hatred and abnormality in religious sentiments. AAP is in power in Punjab and Delhi.
An FIR was registered against Bagga and an unidentified person on April 1 at the Punjab State Cyber Crime Police Station in Mohali. Bagga was subject to the relevant IPC provisions, including 153-A (promoting hostility between different groups on the basis of religion, race, location, etc.), 505 (anyone making, publishing or disseminating any statement, rumor or report) and 506 (Criminal intimidation)), according to the FIR.
In multiple tweets on Saturday, Bagga said he was in Lucknow and knew nothing about any FIR against him. Bagga claimed that a Punjab police vehicle had come to his house to arrest him without informing the local police. Now they are tracking the addresses of my friends and going to their homes, he said.
“So far there is no information against me in FIR, police station, section,” he tweeted, tagging Delhi Police and West District DCP.
