The Delhi Assembly on Monday witnessed a commotion and passed a resolution condemning Delhi BJP president Aadesh Kumar Gupta for making derogatory remarks against Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Speaker Ram Nibas Goel also sacked three BJP MLAs – Anil Vajpayee, Jitendra Mahajan and Ajay Mahawar – for a brief time amid the AAP’s vociferous protests over Gupta’s remarks.
Vajpayee, Mahajan and Mahawar were asked to leave after standing on the bench even though the Speaker asked them to sit. After that, House proceedings were adjourned for 15 minutes, the second time since the House’s first meeting in the morning. Earlier, as the MLAs gathered in the morning, AAP MLAs entered the House well with slogans for the BJP leader’s alleged remarks against Kejriwal. A condemnation motion needs to be brought in the House against the Delhi BJP president for making derogatory remarks against the Chief Minister. AAP MLA Mahendra Goel said the Leader of the Opposition should apologize.
After the House reconvened in the afternoon, the Speaker accepted Goel’s motion of no-confidence and passed it by voice vote. We are good people, our volunteers are Sharif (virtuous). Otherwise, such comments deserve beheading, Goel said.
He dared Gupta to make similar remarks against the BJP state chief ministers. Leader of the Opposition Rambir Bidhuri said, “If anyone uses any obscene language, I condemn it.” If there is any truth in the allegation against Aadesh Gupta, I will shake hands with the Chief Minister of Delhi and apologize. But if the Delhi BJP president has condemned any of our party leaders, Mahendra Goel should apologize in the House, he said.
The speaker asked Bidhuri to show the video of the remarks later, and allowed the three sacked BJP MLAs to rejoin the House.
