Second, he made it clear that he did not want to be the chairperson of the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) in place of Sonia Gandhi, and Power mentioned that he had received a letter from Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee asking him to speak to like-minded opponents. Leaders will form a front against BJP for 2024.
Sources say there are plans to cook with Mamata, Power, and even Arvind Kejriwal. Most agree that Congress will not be able to lead on any other front with weak organization and election results. Also, the team has opponents AAP and TMC and therefore may not be open to doing business with them. It will be harder for Sonia Gandhi to reach out to them, especially in many states like Himachal Pradesh, Gujarat and Haryana where AAP has taken the place of Congress.
A top source in the Nationalist Congress Party told News18.com, “It is a matter of time before Rahul Gandhi takes office. If he does before the Lok Sabha vote, I wonder how many will be interested in discussing the new alliance with him. “
According to the top opposition leader, the Congress is a tried and failed force. No one in the Congress can be seen as Modi’s winning opponent or alternative. “2004 was different. Sonia emerged as a determined leader and was accepted as a woman and a senior in that field. That may not be the case with the Gandhi siblings.”
In the next few weeks, a structure could be firm. Power will talk to many more opposition leaders who are still either flexible or reluctant. The cards include Arvind Kejriwal, KCR, Jagan Mohan Reddy, and even Naveen Patnaik.
But it’s still the first day. Past attempts to unite a front to deal with the BJP have met with little success. With so much ambition and arrogance, it can be hard to get everyone together, even for power. Ultimately, electoral success is important. And this is where the BJP has become the winning horse.
