On the eve of BJP’s founding day, Prime Minister Modi has asked MPs to dedicate themselves to ‘service’

With the party launching “Social Justice Pakhwada” from April 7 and urging BJP MPs to dedicate themselves to ‘seva’ (service), Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday set a detailed program for them for each of the 14-day long exercise.

Speaking in a parliamentary session a day before the party’s founding day, Modi cited several welfare schemes of the government targeting different sections of the society and asked the MPs to reach out to the people with their details.

Modi is also scheduled to address BJP members on Wednesday. The rise of the party in the Northeast, where it is in power or part of the government, was also underlined by the meeting with the participation of the first woman MP from Nagaland, who was recently elected.

Sources said BJP president JP Nadda had mentioned that the party had achieved the feat of having 100 MPs in the Rajya Sabha for the first time. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Prahlad Joshi told reporters that Modi had asked MPs to take an active part in the program. “They should dedicate themselves to the service,” he was quoted as saying.

MPs were also given orange caps with party names or symbols, as was recently played by the Prime Minister. Some MPs also wore caps carrying Modi’s picture.

MPs and other members of the party will highlight the impact of the health insurance program ‘Ayushman Bharat’ and ‘Jan Aushadhi Kendra’ on April 8, where medicines are sold at subsidized rates. April 8 and April 9 will be at the center of the campaign to deliver water to every home, he said.

The team will also reach out to the intended beneficiaries. On April 9 and April 14, the party will also celebrate the birth anniversary of social reformer Jyoti Rao Phule and BR Ambedkar.

Joshi said BJP members should highlight the April 12 Kovid-19 vaccination program. Modi asked the MPs to inspire the students to visit the school. Ongoing free grain projects, reaching out to Scheduled Tribes, reaching out to unorganized sector workers, highlighting financial inclusion schemes and nutrition programs, and spreading awareness among BJP workers.

The Prime Minister also asked the MPs to work for cleaning and reviving ponds in their areas during the ongoing ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’.
