Andhra Pradesh has formed a new district called Manyam, covering a large part of the tribal areas of Vijayanagaram and Srikakulam districts.
While the dispute over the Orissa-Andhra Pradesh border has not yet been resolved, another controversy has erupted over the inclusion of Orissa’s Kotia in the new district of Andhra Pradesh.
The Kotia region of Orissa has been included in the Salu constituency by the Andhra Pradesh government. Andhra Pradesh has also formed a new district at Parbatipuram with the name of Manyam, Vijayanagaram and a large part of the tribal area of Srikakulam district. These include Salur and Pachipenta constituencies.
Leaders of various parties have protested the move.
Gadadhar Parida, convener of Kotia Development Council, said: “The fight against Kotia has been going on for a long time. The state government and the district administration have formed the Kotia Development Agency to deal with it. ”
Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA Joy Narayan Mishra said, “This is a conspiracy in Andhra. Manyam will be a tribal inhabited district.
“It simply came to our notice then. I have informed the Speaker of the Orissa Legislative Assembly. We will not tolerate this and will fight for Kotia, ”said Jaipur MLA (Congress) Tara Prasad Bahinipati.
BJD MP Muna Khan said: “Kotia is a part of Orissa. We have called an all-party meeting for Kotia. Panchayat elections are also held in Kotia. ”
