As the Fixed Minimum Support Price (MSP) for Rabi grain procurement for 2022-23 started on Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the officers to transfer money to farmers’ bank accounts within 72 hours.
The government has set a target of collecting 6 million metric tons of wheat this year. The central government has fixed MSP for wheat at Rs 2,015 per quintal, an increase of Rs 40 from Rs 1,975 per quintal last year.
Presiding over a high-level review meeting of the officials, Adityanath said, “The officials should make all necessary arrangements for the procurement of wheat in their respective districts so that the farmers do not face any problem.”
So far, more than 1,48,383 farmers have registered to sell their produce, according to department officials. A total of 4,593 centers have been opened for the convenience of farmers and shopping has started at 3,980 centers.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to ensure timely harvesting of crops from the mandi and make all necessary arrangements.
The organizations nominated for purchase are Food and Civil Supplies Department, UP Cooperative Federation (PCF), UP Cooperative Union Limited (PCU), Mandi Parishad, UP Consumer Cooperative Union (UPSS), SFC and BFC.
To help farmers, the UP government has introduced new devices and technologies. Shopping is being done through e-pop in the centers on the basis of biometric verification of farmers or their authorized representatives.
