The son of imprisoned Don-politician Mukhtar Ansari questioned his ‘sudden’ transfer

Abbas Ansari, son of Mukhtar Ansari and MLA of Mau, has expressed concern over the transfer of imprisoned Dawn politician from Banda Jail to Lucknow for a court hearing late Sunday night.

Mukhtar Ansari’s son tweeted, “Preparations are being made to take former MLA Mukhtar Ansari Sahab from Bahinda Jail to Lucknow late at night,” adding that his treatment had been canceled under a conspiracy and that the transfer indicated a major setback.

Following the tweet of Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party (SBSP) MLA, senior administrative officials along with ADM, SP, CMO and doctor reached Banda Jail. However, officials remained adamant about the speculation of Mukhtar Ansari’s transfer.

According to sources, Mukhtar Ansari is scheduled to appear in a Lucknow court on Monday in a case of forgery of enemy property. The convoy carrying Mukhtar Ansari left Banda Jail on Monday morning with tight security.

In another tweet, Abbas made a visual tweet of an unmarked car on the prison premises and expressed concern about the safety of Mukhtar Ansar. Mukhtar Ansari was transferred from Ropar Jail to Banda Jail in Punjab in April last year.

According to sources, ADM Umakanta Tripathi and SP Lakshmi Nibas Mishra reached the jail late at night. The CMO also visited the jail.

Abbas Ansar contested and won the Mau Sadar seat in place of his father on the SBSP ticket in the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections this time.
