In the last two days, the accounts of IMD (India Meteorological Department) and UGC (University Grants Commission) have also been hacked.
The Twitter accounts of the Uttar Pradesh government and the Punjab Congress were hacked on Monday, with attackers posting NFT-related content.
There were multiple posts on the Twitter handle of the Punjab Congress where random users were tagged. A post that was pinned – with a GIF image – read: “In celebration of the release of the Beanz Official Collection, we’ve opened an airdrop for all active NFT traders in the community over the next 24 hours! Claim your sic. “
A similar message soon found its way into the Uttar Pradesh government’s account.
The incidents came just days after a random tweet was posted after the handle of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s office was hacked. “At 12:30 am on April 09, an attempt was made to hack the official Twitter account of the Chief Minister’s Office CMOfficeUP with anti-social elements, who posted some tweets which were immediately recovered. (sic) “, read a statement from the state government.

The hacking of the UGC Twitter account has been noticed when some unknown hackers tagged several people and posted a thread of irrelevant tweets.
